United States reports 616 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours
616 people have died from coronavirus in the past 24 hours, rising the United States’ death toll from the virus to 132,101, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The U.S. has the highest death toll from coronavirus in the world, followed by Brazil with 63,254 deaths, the United Kingdom with 44,131 deaths and Italy with 34,833 deaths.
2,890,588 people have until now tested positive for coronavirus in the country, an increase of 54,904 new cases in the past 24 hours.
Until now, at least 1,235,488 patients suffering from the pandemic have recovered and been discharged from hospital in the country.
At least 36,297,195 tests have been carried out to detect coronavirus infections in the country.
New York, which is being hit the hardest by the novel coronavirus in the U.S, has so far reported more than 420,774 confirmed cases, with at least 32,191 deaths.
According to Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, coronavirus pandemic has so far claimed the lives of at least 530,263 people across the world. (ILKHA)
