The United States has claimed that its forces have redirected 110 commercial vessels as part of the naval blockade imposed on Iran.

In a statement posted on its official social media account, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said American forces continue to enforce what it described as a blockade targeting Iran's maritime activity.

According to CENTCOM, 110 commercial ships have altered their routes under US direction as of the latest update. The command said the vessels were redirected to ensure compliance with the blockade and did not provide further operational details.

The latest figure marks an increase from previous CENTCOM updates, which had reported lower numbers of rerouted vessels as the maritime operation expanded.

Maritime tensions remain high

The announcement comes amid continued tensions in and around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy shipping routes. Commercial vessel traffic through the strait has declined significantly in recent weeks as security risks have increased.

Iran has repeatedly rejected US actions in the region and maintains that it exercises authority over its territorial waters, while Washington says its naval operations are intended to enforce sanctions and protect maritime security.
