Yemen reaffirms support for Palestinian resistance in letter to Al-Qassam
The Chief of Staff of Yemen’s Sanaa forces, Major General Youssef al-Madani, has sent a letter to the Chief of Staff of the al-Qassam Brigades responding to condolences over the death of Major General Mohammed Abdulkarim al-Ghumari.
In the letter, al-Madani reiterated Yemen’s declared support for Palestinian resistance and warned that Sanaa forces are closely monitoring developments in Gaza.
Al-Madani said that if Israel resumes military operations against Gaza, Sanaa forces would resume military action “deep within the Zionist entity” and would reimpose a ban on Israeli navigation in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea. The statement framed such measures as contingent on any renewed aggression against Gaza.
The letter emphasized ties between the parties, describing their relationship in religious and “Jihadi” terms and asserting a shared purpose in confronting what it called the “Zionist enemy.” Al-Madani also praised the al-Qassam Brigades for their role in the conflict and acknowledged the group’s significance to Palestinian resistance.
Analysts say the message appears intended both as an expression of solidarity with Palestinian groups and as a warning aimed at deterring further large-scale military operations in Gaza. The vow to curtail navigation in major regional waterways would, if implemented, have implications for commercial shipping and regional security, experts note. (ILKHA)
