Afghanistan, Iran business leaders agree to boost bilateral trade cooperation
A high-ranking Afghan business delegation has held strategic talks with officials from the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture as part of efforts to strengthen economic and private-sector cooperation between Afghanistan and Iran.
The Afghan delegation was headed by Mirjan Suleimankhel, deputy head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment. Discussions focused on expanding bilateral trade, strengthening business ties and creating new opportunities for private-sector cooperation between the two countries.
During the talks, the two sides agreed to work toward signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at providing a framework for deeper economic cooperation.
They also agreed to establish a joint working group to facilitate coordination between business communities and address challenges affecting bilateral commerce.
In addition, the chambers discussed the establishment of trade councils designed to promote direct engagement between Afghan and Iranian companies and encourage greater investment and commercial exchanges.
The agreements are expected to provide a more structured mechanism for cooperation between the private sectors of the two neighboring countries and contribute to expanding bilateral trade.
The talks come as Afghanistan and Iran continue efforts to strengthen economic relations and increase commercial exchanges, with both sides seeking to utilize their geographic proximity and existing trade links to create new business opportunities. (ILKHA)
