Türkiye’s consumer confidence index falls 7.7% to 84.8 in October
Türkiye’s consumer confidence index fell by 7.7% in October, dropping to 84.8 from 91.9 in September, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Thursday.
The index is calculated based on the results of a consumer tendency survey conducted jointly by TurkStat and the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT).
The decline indicates a deterioration in consumer sentiment regarding economic conditions, household finances and spending prospects.
The consumer confidence index ranges between zero and 200. A reading below 100 indicates a pessimistic outlook among consumers, while a reading above 100 signals optimism.
October’s figure therefore reflects growing pessimism among consumers about the economic outlook in Türkiye. (ILKHA)
