Türkiye’s industrial production rises annually in April

Türkiye’s industrial production increased by 3.3% in April 2025 compared to the same month last year, according to data released Thursday by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
However, on a monthly basis, the index declined by 3.1%, reflecting short-term fluctuations in output.
The industrial production index is considered a key indicator of economic performance, and the annual increase suggests continued recovery momentum in several sectors.
Breaking down the subsectors, the annual data showed a 1.3% increase in the mining and quarrying index, a 3.0% rise in the manufacturing index, and a significant 8.8% surge in the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply index.
On a monthly basis, the mining and quarrying index dropped by 2.5%, and the manufacturing index fell by 3.4%. Meanwhile, the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply index recorded a modest increase of 0.2% in April compared to the previous month.
The figures reflect a mixed performance for Türkiye’s industrial sector, with robust annual growth driven by energy-related industries but a notable monthly contraction in key subsectors. (ILKHA)
