Türkiye sees 23.14% annual spike in building construction costs

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced Thursday that the Construction Cost Index (CCI) for April 2025 rose by 22.69% compared to the same month last year and increased by 1.67% from March 2025.
Breaking down the CCI, the material index climbed 2.01% month-on-month and 18.00% year-on-year, while the labour index grew by 1.07% compared to the previous month and surged 31.82% compared to April 2024.
The building construction cost index saw a 23.14% annual increase and a 1.76% monthly rise. The material index for buildings increased by 2.15% month-on-month and 18.96% year-on-year, while the labour index rose by 1.11% from the previous month and 30.93% compared to the previous year.
The construction cost index for civil engineering projects increased by 21.22% annually and 1.36% monthly. The material index for civil engineering grew by 1.58% month-on-month and 15.08% year-on-year, while the labour index rose by 0.92% from March 2025 and 35.10% compared to April 2024.
The data highlights significant cost pressures in Türkiye’s construction sector, driven by rising material and labour expenses, with labour costs showing particularly sharp annual increases. (ILKHA)
