Türkiye’s construction production declined by 6.0% year-on-year in June 2026, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Friday.

The decline was driven mainly by weaker activity in building construction and specialized construction activities, while civil engineering recorded an annual increase.

According to the index based on 2021=100, the construction of buildings index fell 7.5% in June compared with the same month a year earlier. The specialized construction activities index declined 7.6%, while the civil engineering index increased 4.5% over the same period.

On a monthly basis, construction production also recorded a decline, falling 0.5% in June 2026 compared with May.

Among the subsectors, the construction of buildings index decreased 0.4%, while the specialized construction activities index fell 1.0%.

In contrast, the civil engineering index increased 0.1% compared with the previous month.

The latest figures point to continued weakness in overall construction activity, despite the resilience shown by the civil engineering segment. (ILKHA)
