Ankara set to become center of multilateral dialogue during NATO gathering
Türkiye continues to strengthen its position as a leading diplomatic actor on the international stage through its commitment to dialogue, crisis resolution, and regional stability, the Presidency's Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran said on Sunday.
In a statement shared on X, Duran highlighted Türkiye's growing influence in global affairs under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, emphasizing the country's efforts to promote peace, facilitate dialogue, and contribute to the resolution of international crises.
“Under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Türkiye remains one of the most influential actors in the international system through its diplomatic approach that helps resolve crises, prioritises dialogue, and assumes responsibility for advancing global peace,” Duran said.
His remarks came as Türkiye prepares to host the NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, one of the most significant international gatherings of the year. The summit, scheduled to take place in Ankara, is expected to bring together leaders from across the Alliance to discuss key security challenges, regional developments, and the future direction of transatlantic cooperation.
According to Duran, the summit will further reinforce Türkiye's role as a platform for international engagement and multilateral cooperation.
“As our country prepares to host a major international event, the NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, Türkiye is becoming a focal point for collective wisdom and multilateral dialogue across a wide range of areas, from security and development to diplomacy and regional cooperation,” he stated.
Duran also underscored Türkiye's strategic importance, citing its geographic position, diplomatic capabilities, and efforts to maintain constructive relations with regional and global partners.
“With its strategic location, strong diplomatic capacity, and constructive approach, Türkiye will continue to contribute to strengthening regional and global stability while working with determination for a fairer and more inclusive international order,” he said.
Türkiye has increasingly positioned itself as a mediator in regional and international disputes in recent years, hosting diplomatic negotiations and facilitating dialogue between opposing sides in several conflicts. Officials have frequently highlighted Ankara's efforts to pursue balanced diplomacy while maintaining active engagement with international organizations and regional partners.
The upcoming NATO summit is expected to focus on collective defense, regional security challenges, developments in Ukraine, defense investment commitments, and broader geopolitical issues affecting the Euro-Atlantic region.
As preparations for the summit continue, Turkish officials have emphasized that the gathering will provide an important opportunity for leaders to exchange views on global security challenges and strengthen cooperation within the Alliance, while further highlighting Türkiye's role as a key diplomatic and strategic actor on the international stage.
