HAMAS MP Marwan Abu Ras calls for Ummah-wide mobilization for Gaza

As the Gaza Strip continues to endure relentless Israeli aggression, a powerful call for Islamic unity and decisive action was issued from Türkiye.
Speaking at the grand closing event of the nationwide Mawlid al-Nabi celebrations, HAMAS Member of Parliament Marwan Abu Ras called on the entire Islamic Ummah to rise in defense of Palestine and to reignite the spirit of resistance inspired by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The "Resistance Leader Prophet Muhammad" themed Mawlid celebrations, organized in dozens of Turkish cities, culminated on Sunday, April 27, with major events held in Istanbul, Adana, and Van. In Bağcılar Square, Istanbul, thousands gathered in a sea of Palestinian flags and Islamic banners to reaffirm their unwavering support for Gaza. The gathering also featured addresses from officials and activists from different parts of the Muslim world, each stressing the urgency of action for the besieged people of Palestine.
"Reviving the Spirit of the Ummah"
In his address, Marwan Abu Ras passionately underscored the importance of such gatherings, which he described as "essential lifelines" for the Islamic Ummah during times of oppression and injustice.
"These events," he said, "revive the spirit of true belonging — belonging to our religion, to our sanctities, and to our oppressed brothers and sisters in Palestine. They keep the Ummah's heart beating in unison with those facing massacres, the destruction of homes, hospitals, mosques, and all vital areas of life."
He praised the Turkish people and organizers for maintaining the connection between the struggles of the Palestinian people and the Islamic conscience, emphasizing that such events should not be occasional but must become a continuous movement.
"They must take place in every capital, in every city, and in every country of the Islamic Ummah," he urged. "Because the Ummah needs to stay awake, aware, and actively engaged with the suffering of its people — not just in Palestine, but across all oppressed lands."
A Call for Serious Action from the Islamic World
Marwan Abu Ras’s most powerful message was a direct and urgent call for the Muslim nations to move beyond verbal support and into tangible, united action.
"The occupation regime is supported by the entire Western world — by Europe, by America, by the East," he said. "And yet we, the Muslim Ummah, are over two billion strong, consisting of more than fifty nations, with unmatched wealth, vast resources, and mighty armies."
"Where is the support of this Ummah?" he challenged. "Where are its weapons, its soldiers, its experts, its leaders? Why is the enemy left to desecrate Al-Aqsa Mosque, to massacre the people of Gaza, and to starve entire populations while we watch?"
Abu Ras warned that Gaza was facing an imminent famine due to the Israeli siege and deliberate destruction of vital infrastructure, closing all crossings and preventing food, water, and medical supplies from reaching the civilians.
"Victory is Near, With Allah’s Permission"
In a stirring conclusion, Abu Ras reminded the gathering — and through them, the entire Muslim world — that the enemy, despite its brutality, was fundamentally weak and cowardly.
"This enemy relies on the protection of others; it cannot stand alone," he declared. "If the Islamic Ummah, with all its power, money, expertise, and armies, were to rise seriously and with full conviction, this enemy would not be able to stay one day longer on our sacred lands."
"Victory is near, with Allah's permission," he concluded to a thunderous ovation. "But it requires seriousness, bravery, and responsibility from every Muslim."
Global Echoes of Solidarity
The Mawlid celebrations this year, infused with the theme of resistance and victory, have reignited a wave of solidarity across the Muslim world. In speeches, prayers, and rallies, participants called for an end to the genocide in Gaza, the liberation of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), and the unification of the Muslim ranks against oppression.
As the Ummah reflects on the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who himself was the ultimate leader of resistance against tyranny and injustice, Marwan Abu Ras’s call echoes as a rallying cry: to rise, to resist, and to reclaim the dignity and sanctities of the Islamic nation.
