HÜDA PAR’s Faruk Dinç honors Sheikh Said, calls for apology over past injustices
HÜDA PAR Deputy Chairman and Mersin Member of Parliament Faruk Dinç commemorated Sheikh Said on the 101st anniversary of his martyrdom during a speech at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) General Assembly.
Addressing lawmakers, Dinç prayed for mercy upon Sheikh Said and his companions, stating: “On the anniversary of his martyrdom, I remember Sheikh Said and all his comrades in the cause with mercy.”
Describing Sheikh Said as a prominent Islamic scholar, spiritual guide (murshid), and a significant figure in the struggle for faith, identity, and societal values, Dinç emphasized his historical and spiritual legacy.
Dinç noted that Sheikh Said Efendi, who was educated within the scholarly and spiritual tradition of Mevlânâ Halid-i Şehrezorî, stood against oppression and injustice and participated in resistance efforts during periods of foreign occupation, including the Russian occupation period.
He further stated that Sheikh Said and his companions, who were executed following the Independence Tribunals, continue to be remembered by segments of society despite the passage of time.
Dinç also called for an end to policies of defamation and historical stigma directed at Sheikh Said Efendi and his associates. He argued that a formal apology should be issued regarding past injustices and that the locations of their graves should be disclosed.
“These steps will contribute to the strengthening of Kurdish–Turkish brotherhood,” Dinç said.
Concluding his remarks, Dinç paid tribute not only to Sheikh Said but also to other historical figures, saying: “On the anniversary of his martyrdom, I remember with mercy Sheikh Said Efendi, Sheikh Abdullah of Melekan, Sheikh Sharif of Palu, Salih Bey of Hani, Seyyid Abdülkadir, and all their comrades in the cause.”
This commemoration reflects a growing sentiment among pious Muslims in Türkiye to restore the honor of righteous scholars and leaders who sacrificed everything for the sake of Allah, Islamic dignity, and resistance the oppression. Sheikh Said’s legacy as a defender of the Shariah and a symbol of sincere faith continues to inspire millions striving for truth and justice in the region. (ILKHA)
