Türkiye’s Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) held the much-anticipated computerized draw for the 2027 Hajj lottery on Wednesday, determining the order of priority for nearly two million hopeful applicants eager to undertake the sacred pilgrimage to Makkah.

The transparent process, conducted under the supervision of a public notary and in the presence of media representatives, underscores Diyanet’s commitment to fairness in allocating limited pilgrimage slots amid overwhelming demand.

Applicants can now check their results through the e-Government (e-Devlet) portal and Diyanet’s official digital platforms, with successful candidates to be contacted in the coming months for registration.

Türkiye is allocated an annual Hajj quota by Saudi authorities, based primarily on its Muslim population. However, with nearly two million registrations this year, the vast majority of applicants will not secure a spot immediately and will carry over in the waiting system for future seasons, in line with established Diyanet regulations.

This year’s record-level interest reflects the deep spiritual importance of Hajj—one of Islam’s five pillars—for Turkish Muslims, many of whom wait years for the opportunity.

Following the draw, Diyanet will initiate comprehensive preparations for selected pilgrims, including final registration and documentation, mandatory health screenings, educational seminars on Hajj rituals and logistics, as well as travel and accommodation arrangements.

Guidance on safety protocols, crowd management, and spiritual observance will also be provided to help pilgrims navigate the journey smoothly.

The 2027 preparations coincide with Saudi Arabia’s continued modernization of pilgrimage services under Vision 2030, with recent investments focused on enhanced crowd management technologies, expanded transportation including the Haramain High-Speed Railway, improved healthcare facilities at holy sites, and digital tools such as electronic permits, smart cards, and mobile apps.

These upgrades aim to accommodate growing global pilgrim numbers while prioritizing safety and comfort in Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah.

For millions of Turkish families, the Hajj lottery remains a moment of hope and anticipation. Those not selected this year remain eligible for future draws, keeping the dream of performing Hajj alive.
