Turkish Airlines resumes Istanbul-Dubai flights after regional tensions ease
Turkish Airlines announced that it will resume direct flights between Istanbul and Dubai starting on June 9 after suspending operations for more than two months due to regional tensions linked to the US-backed Israeli regime-Iran confrontation.
According to the airline, the first officially scheduled flight will depart from Istanbul Airport at 01:30 local time, marking the restoration of daily round-trip services between Istanbul and Dubai.
Some diplomatic and foreign representation sources indicated that an initial overnight flight may also operate late on June 8 ahead of the formal reopening schedule.
Flights to the United Arab Emirates had been suspended since February 28 following widespread airspace restrictions and security concerns across the Middle East amid escalating regional instability.
The crisis forced airlines to adopt longer alternative routes, increasing average flight durations from approximately 4.5 hours to between 6.5 and 7 hours due to security-related airspace diversions.
The resumption comes after the UAE Civil Aviation Authority reportedly lifted several operational restrictions imposed during the regional escalation.
