Turkish, Iranian foreign ministers discuss ongoing negotiation process in phone call
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on Saturday to discuss the latest developments in the ongoing negotiation process, reaffirming Türkiye's commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region.
Following the call, Fidan said the two top diplomats exchanged views on recent progress in the negotiations, though he did not specify the subject or parties involved.
“During the call, we discussed the latest situation of the ongoing negotiation process,” Fidan said in a statement posted on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal.
Reiterating Ankara's diplomatic priorities, Fidan stressed that Türkiye would continue working to help resolve regional conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.
“Türkiye will continue its efforts to end conflicts in our region and establish lasting peace,” he said.
The Turkish foreign minister did not disclose additional details regarding the negotiations or the specific issues addressed during the conversation.
The phone call comes amid heightened diplomatic activity across the Middle East, where regional and international actors have been engaged in efforts to reduce tensions and advance negotiations on several ongoing conflicts. Türkiye has consistently positioned itself as a supporter of dialogue and a facilitator of diplomatic initiatives aimed at promoting regional stability and preventing further escalation.
Ankara has maintained regular diplomatic contacts with Tehran on a range of regional issues, including security, political developments, and efforts to foster peace through negotiation. The latest conversation between Fidan and Araghchi underscores the continued communication between the two neighboring countries as diplomatic efforts continue. (ILKHA)
