Türkiye publishes 2026–2030 National Artificial Intelligence Action Plan
Türkiye has officially published its 2026–2030 National Artificial Intelligence Action Plan in the Official Gazette under a presidential circular signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, outlining the country's roadmap to expand artificial intelligence capabilities and strengthen technological competitiveness.
Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır said artificial intelligence is not only a technological field but also a strategic driver of economic prosperity, international competitiveness and technological independence.
Kacır said the new action plan aims to position Türkiye among the world's leading countries in AI by supporting the development of trustworthy AI technologies, innovative products and advanced digital services based on the country's own capabilities.
Focus on strategic sectors
Under the five-year plan, AI applications will be expanded across strategic sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, education and public services to improve productivity, efficiency and the quality of public administration.
The government also plans to strengthen Türkiye's AI ecosystem by investing in research and development, digital infrastructure, entrepreneurship and the training of a highly skilled workforce capable of developing next-generation AI technologies.
Strengthening technological independence
According to the government, the strategy seeks to make Türkiye a regional hub for AI investment, talent and innovation while supporting domestic technology development and reducing dependence on foreign technologies.
Officials say artificial intelligence will play an increasingly important role in Türkiye's long-term economic growth, industrial transformation and national technological sovereignty over the coming years. (ILKHA)
