Türkiye’s parliament unanimously condemns Israel’s Gaza genocide, attacks on Iran

Türkiye’s Grand National Assembly on Tuesday unanimously adopted a motion denouncing Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza and its military aggression toward the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The motion, led by Parliamentary Speaker Numan Kurtulmus, represents a powerful rebuke of Israeli crimes and calls for international accountability.
The Turkish parliament condemned in the “strongest terms” the Israeli military’s actions in Gaza, where tens of thousands of civilians—including children and aid-seekers—have been massacred in what it described as systematic genocide. The motion also highlighted Israel's attacks on Iran, characterizing them as part of a deliberate strategy to ignite regional war and undermine peace.
“Israel is pursuing a regional conflict strategy aimed at destabilizing peace in the region,” the statement read, warning that recent provocations risk expanding the conflict across West Asia and beyond.
The parliament accused the Zionist regime of long-standing crimes including occupation, systematic oppression, and ethnic cleansing, with the recent genocide in Gaza being the latest and most brutal chapter. It condemned the deliberate targeting of civilians and children awaiting humanitarian aid as a war crime and crime against humanity.
“Palestinians are not only struggling against occupation—they are fighting for their very existence under a genocidal siege,” the motion emphasized.
The Turkish lawmakers also condemned Israel’s aggression toward Iran, warning that such acts dangerously escalate tensions in the region and threaten ongoing diplomatic efforts, including nuclear negotiations.
“Israel’s attacks on Iran are provocative steps designed to spread chaos and draw the region into a broader war,” the motion asserted. “They represent a direct threat to regional and international peace.”
In a direct accusation, the motion identified the Israeli government as a perpetrator of state terrorism, condemning it alongside the imperialist powers that support its aggression. It noted that ongoing international legal proceedings against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and members of his administration will “certify this regime as genocidal.”
While condemning Israel’s actions, the Turkish parliament reaffirmed its commitment to peace and justice, declaring its solidarity with all innocent people in the region suffering under war and occupation. It pledged to pursue a “just, lasting, and equitable peace” and urged the international community to abandon its silence and take principled action in accordance with international law.
“We will not stop our diplomatic efforts,” the motion concluded. “The world must take a firm and responsible stance to stop Israel’s crimes and restore stability and justice to the region.” (ILKHA)
