Muslims across Türkiye observed the blessed anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad, known as Mawlid al-Nabi, with religious programs, prayers and gatherings held in mosques across the country.

Beginning in the evening, worshippers gathered in mosques to mark the occasion in a spiritual atmosphere filled with recitations of the Holy Quran, Mevlidi Sherif, hymns, qasidas and salawat.

Religious scholars and preachers highlighted the exemplary life and character of Prophet Muhammad in their sermons, emphasizing the importance of following his Sunnah and adopting his beautiful morality in daily life.

This year's observances mark the 1,501st anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad and are being held under the theme “Our Prophet and Beautiful Morality.”

Following the religious programs, charitable organizations and philanthropists offered refreshments and treats to worshippers outside mosques.

During prayers held throughout the night, Muslims prayed for peace and well-being in Türkiye and offered special supplications for people suffering in conflict zones, particularly in Gaza.

Malatya

In Malatya, special Mawlid al-Nabi programs were held at mosques across the province, drawing considerable participation from local residents.

At Kernek Karagözlüler Mosque, the program began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the reading of Mevlidi Sherif and the performance of religious hymns.

Malatya Provincial Mufti Ramazan Dolu delivered a sermon focusing on the exemplary life and noble character of Prophet Muhammad.

Dolu emphasized the importance of good character in establishing peace, brotherhood and social harmony, saying the Prophet's life provides the finest example for Muslims to follow.

Calling for Prophet Muhammad's life and teachings to be conveyed accurately to younger generations, Dolu said: “Let us explain him to our children, grandchildren and youth in the best way so that we may attain peace, happiness and harmony.”

He further stressed that the Prophet's exemplary morality remains an important guide for people today and called on Muslims to learn from his life and incorporate his values into their daily lives.

Şırnak

In the Cizre district of Şırnak, residents gathered at mosques to mark Mawlid al-Nabi with prayers, salawat and religious recitations.

The mosques hosted readings of the Holy Quran, Mevlidi Sherif, hymns and qasidas, while various treats were distributed to worshippers attending the programs.

A special Mawlid al-Nabi program organized by the Cizre District Mufti's Office at the Grand Mosque also attracted local residents.

Addressing the congregation, preacher Tahir Çalışkan stressed the importance of keeping the Prophet's example at the center of Muslim life.

“Because we have removed the Prophet from our lives, we no longer have peace, we no longer have unity, we no longer have courage,” Çalışkan said.

He argued that distancing from the Prophet's teachings has weakened the Muslim community and pointed to Gaza as a stark example of the suffering faced by Muslims.

“Because we have distanced ourselves from the Prophet, the enemies of Islam today dare to act against the Ummah. Today, the greatest example is in Gaza, where a handful of Jews are able to inflict oppression on the Ummah,” he said.

Mawlid al-Nabi programs held across Türkiye provided an opportunity for Muslims to commemorate the life and legacy of Prophet Muhammad while renewing their commitment to his teachings, moral values and Sunnah. (ILKHA)
