Türkiye strongly condemns Israeli strikes on military airport in northern Syria
Türkiye strongly condemned Israeli airstrikes targeting the Abu al-Duhur Airbase in rural Idlib, Syria, describing the attack as a violation of Syria’s territorial integrity and unity.
“We strongly condemn the airstrikes carried out by Israel early this morning (18 August) on the Abu al-Duhur Airbase located in rural Idlib, Syria,” the ministry said in a press release issued on Tuesday
The ministry accused Israel of continuing to target Syria’s infrastructure and capabilities while violating the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Israel recklessly continues its attacks that target Syria’s infrastructure and capabilities, and violate its territorial integrity and unity,” the statement said.
Ankara called on the international community to adopt a stronger and more decisive position to halt what it described as Israel’s escalating aggression against Syria.
Türkiye also urged the international community to ensure accountability for actions that, according to the ministry, disregard international law.
The statement came after reports that Israeli warplanes carried out multiple airstrikes against the Abu al-Duhur military airbase in the eastern countryside of Idlib early Tuesday. The attack was the latest in a series of Israeli military operations targeting sites inside Syrian territory.
Türkiye has repeatedly stressed the importance of preserving Syria’s territorial integrity and supporting efforts aimed at establishing lasting stability and security in the country. (ILKHA)
