Türkiye will not allow Netanyahu to threaten regional peace, Duran says
Türkiye will continue to oppose Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s destabilizing policies in the region and will stand alongside countries pursuing peace and stability, Presidential Communications Chief Burhanettin Duran said.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), Duran responded to Netanyahu’s recent remarks targeting Türkiye and Syria, describing the Israeli prime minister’s statements as a reflection of Netanyahu’s growing international isolation and domestic political concerns.
Duran accused Netanyahu of attempting to divert attention from Israel’s policies by portraying Türkiye and other regional countries as threats.
“The threats and lies Netanyahu voiced in a recent interview regarding Türkiye and Syria are yet another reflection of the Israeli Prime Minister’s growing international isolation, political fears, and delusions,” Duran said.
He argued that Netanyahu’s attempts to shape international opinion through accusations against regional countries are becoming increasingly ineffective, saying that growing numbers of people around the world are rejecting Israel’s policies.
Addressing concerns that Netanyahu’s direct targeting of Türkiye could lead to a broader confrontation, Duran said the Israeli government had increasingly abandoned diplomacy and dialogue in favor of military pressure and confrontation.
According to Duran, Israel’s policies toward Gaza, Syria and Lebanon, as well as its approach to settler violence and the positions of hard-line members of the Israeli government, have significantly damaged Israel’s international standing.
He said Türkiye’s opposition to these policies should not be interpreted as hostility toward Israel but as part of Ankara’s efforts to protect regional stability and promote peace.
“The fundamental problem with the current administration is that it equates security not with stability and diplomacy, but with constant aggression,” Duran said.
He maintained that Türkiye’s growing regional influence allows Ankara to challenge policies that it believes are undermining security and stability across the Middle East.
Duran reiterated that Türkiye’s primary objective is to end bloodshed and suffering in the region, emphasizing the importance Ankara attaches to Gaza and the Palestinian cause.
He said Türkiye continues to advocate a political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and called for a two-state solution as the most viable path toward a lasting settlement.
Duran also criticized Israeli policies concerning the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank, arguing that such actions further destabilize the region.
“The most rational course for the Israeli government would be to pursue a two-state solution that would bring the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to a definitive end and halt further destabilizing actions in the region,” he said.
Duran stressed that Türkiye is a NATO member with significant military, diplomatic and economic capabilities and said Ankara would not be intimidated by threats.
He described Türkiye as a country with a long-established tradition of statecraft and emphasized that the country would continue to act prudently while protecting its national security and interests.
“As Türkiye, we will continue to combat the destabilizing actions of genocidal Netanyahu and stand with all states pursuing peaceful policies in our region, particularly Syria,” Duran said.
He added that Türkiye would not allow attempts to undermine regional peace to succeed and said Ankara would continue pursuing a peace-oriented foreign policy.
“Türkiye’s prudent and peace-oriented foreign policy will thwart the bloody schemes of disgraced figures such as Netanyahu, who would not hesitate to set the region ablaze to secure their own political futures,” Duran said.
He concluded with a firm warning that Türkiye would protect its security and that of its partners in the region.
“No one can disturb the peace of our nation and our friends. Türkiye will never allow that,” Duran said. (ILKHA)
