Türkiye's installed electricity generation capacity reached 126,476 megawatts (MW) as of July, with renewable energy sources accounting for 62.8 percent of the total capacity, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced.

In a post on his social media account, Bayraktar shared updated figures on Türkiye's electricity generation capacity, highlighting the continued expansion of the country's energy infrastructure.

According to the minister, the combined installed capacity of solar and wind power has reached 42,865 MW, reflecting steady growth in renewable energy investments.

Bayraktar said renewable energy now makes up 62.8 percent of Türkiye's total installed electricity capacity, adding that the increase in solar and wind power demonstrates the country's commitment to its energy transition.

He stressed that Türkiye will continue expanding its energy capacity in line with its goal of becoming a stronger, more independent and more prosperous nation.

Türkiye has significantly increased investments in renewable energy in recent years as part of efforts to diversify its energy mix, reduce external energy dependence and strengthen long-term energy security. (ILKHA)
