Russia says it foiled kamikaze drone attack targeting strategic facility
Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said it had prevented a planned drone attack on a strategic facility in the Moscow region, seizing dozens of FPV drones allegedly prepared for the operation.
Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said intelligence operations uncovered a planned attack allegedly organized by Ukraine's security services with support from European intelligence agencies.
According to the FSB, the shipment entered Russia via a route passing through Bratislava, Siedlce, and Brest before reaching the Moscow region, where it was placed under surveillance.
Drones concealed in construction materials
The agency said investigators discovered 35 first-person view (FPV) drones hidden inside Spanish-made ceramic tiles that had been delivered to a rented warehouse.
The FSB claimed the drones were equipped with Canadian-made control systems designed to resist electronic warfare interference.
Russian special forces intercepted and destroyed all of the drones before they could be launched, the agency said, adding that the operation prevented damage to the targeted facility and protected nearby civilians.
Suspect killed during arrest
The FSB alleged that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) had used children aged 13 to 16 to perform logistical tasks, including activating SIM cards used in the drone operation.
It also claimed the suspected organizer had been recruited through an international organization that is banned as a terrorist group in Russia.
According to the FSB, the suspect was fatally shot after offering armed resistance during the arrest operation.
Terrorism investigation launched
The FSB said a criminal investigation had been opened on terrorism-related charges.
Ukraine has not publicly commented on the Russian claims, and the allegations could not be independently verified. (ILKHA)
