875 Afghan nationals return home after release from Pakistani prisons

A total of 875 Afghan nationals have been released from prisons in Pakistan and returned to Afghanistan over the past week, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation announced Thursday.
According to a ministry statement, the returnees included families, children and individuals who had been detained in Pakistani prisons for varying periods and for different reasons.
The ministry said 810 Afghan nationals entered Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing, while another 65 people returned through the Spin Boldak crossing.
The latest group adds to the continuing movement of Afghans returning to the country from neighboring states, with Afghan authorities and humanitarian organizations assisting returnees as they cross the border.
The ministry did not provide further details about the circumstances of the detainees’ arrests or the length of time they had spent in Pakistani prisons. (ILKHA)
