Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi held talks with Mohammad Reza Bahrami, Director of the South Asia Department at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Monday to discuss bilateral relations and developments in the region.

According to a statement issued by Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting focused on the current state of Afghanistan-Iran relations and opportunities for further cooperation.

Both sides described bilateral relations as positive and increasingly strong, emphasizing the importance of making use of existing opportunities to further strengthen ties between the two neighboring countries.

The Afghan and Iranian officials also reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining dialogue and engagement at all levels. They stressed that continued communication would be important for addressing shared concerns and advancing mutual interests.

The discussions also covered regional developments, although the Afghan Foreign Ministry did not provide further details on the specific issues addressed.

The meeting comes as Afghanistan and Iran continue diplomatic engagement on bilateral and regional matters. Both countries have emphasized the importance of maintaining communication and strengthening relations amid ongoing developments across the region.
