Afghanistan, Belarus discuss expansion of trade and industrial cooperation
A high-ranking Afghan delegation led by Agriculture Minister Mawlavi Ataullah Omari held substantive talks with Belarusian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Baki Denis Vladimirovich on expanding bilateral trade and industrial cooperation.
The discussions focused on opportunities to establish and expand manufacturing facilities in Afghanistan, as well as the local assembly and production of agricultural and industrial machinery.
The two sides also explored plans for setting up packaging factories and discussed ways to attract direct investment from Belarus into joint ventures, according to officials familiar with the talks.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Vladimirovich expressed Belarus’ readiness to deepen economic engagement with Afghanistan and voiced strong support for expanding trade and industrial relations between the two countries.
The discussions come as Afghanistan seeks to strengthen economic ties with regional and international partners, increase domestic manufacturing capacity and attract foreign investment into key sectors of its economy.
The proposed cooperation in agricultural machinery and industrial production could also contribute to Afghanistan’s efforts to modernize its agricultural sector and reduce dependence on imported equipment and manufactured goods. (ILKHA)
