Afghanistan’s Chargé d’Affaires in Riyadh, Sheikh Abdul Fatah Rahimi, held talks with Prince Turki Al-Faisal Al-Saud, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies and former head of Saudi intelligence, focusing on bilateral relations and opportunities to expand cooperation.

During the meeting, Rahimi and Prince Turki Al-Faisal discussed the historical, religious and cultural ties linking Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia, according to information shared regarding the meeting.

The two sides emphasized the longstanding bonds between the peoples of the two countries and expressed a shared commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations.

Discussions also highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation across areas of mutual interest, with both sides underlining the potential for closer engagement based on their common historical and cultural connections.

The meeting comes as Afghanistan continues efforts to deepen diplomatic and regional engagement with Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Muslim world. Riyadh, meanwhile, remains an important regional partner for Afghanistan given the two countries’ longstanding religious, cultural and diplomatic ties.

The two sides reaffirmed their willingness to maintain dialogue and explore additional avenues for cooperation in the interests of both countries. (ILKHA)
