Gaza media office reports 5,304 ceasefire violations after one year
One year after a ceasefire took effect in the Gaza Strip, Israel has committed 5,304 alleged violations of the agreement, resulting in the deaths of 1,460 Palestinians, injuries to 5,116 others and the detention of 202 people, Gaza's Government Media Office said.
Ismail Al-Thawabta, Director General of the Government Media Office, said in a statement marking the first anniversary of the ceasefire that the Israel regime had failed to fulfill its obligations under the agreement and continued military actions against Palestinians despite the declared truce.
According to government records and field monitoring, the documented violations included airstrikes, artillery attacks, direct shootings, military incursions and arrests across different areas of the Gaza Strip.
Al-Thawabta said the ceasefire had been used as a "cover" to continue attacks against civilians, while the humanitarian and economic situation in Gaza continued to deteriorate.
Aid deliveries remain below agreed levels
Al-Thawabta also highlighted the severe shortage of humanitarian assistance and reconstruction materials entering Gaza since the ceasefire began.
He said that under the agreement, 214,800 aid and reconstruction trucks were supposed to enter the Gaza Strip, but only 74,283 trucks had been allowed into the territory.
The figure means that less than 35 per cent of the required aid deliveries have reached Gaza, leaving the population facing continued shortages of food, medical supplies, shelter materials and other basic necessities.
Regarding movement through crossings, Al-Thawabta said around 36,000 people were expected to leave Gaza under the agreement, but only 14,012 people had been allowed to do so, representing an implementation rate of about 39 per cent.
Winter threatens displaced Palestinians
Warning of a worsening humanitarian disaster as winter approaches, Al-Thawabta said more than 1.5 million displaced Palestinians are still living in temporary tents and damaged shelters across Gaza.
He said approximately 270,000 tents are currently in use, while around 162,000 have become severely damaged and are no longer suitable for protecting families from harsh weather conditions.
The official also warned that more than 255 damaged buildings across Gaza are at risk of collapse, creating additional dangers for civilians already affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Calls for international action
Al-Thawabta called on the international community and United Nations agencies to take urgent steps to improve humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
He demanded the full opening of border crossings, the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid and winter supplies, and the admission of materials needed for reconstruction.
The latest figures come as international reports also indicate that despite the ceasefire agreement, military incidents and humanitarian challenges have continued in Gaza, with both sides accusing each other of violating the truce. (ILKHA)
