Genocide in Gaza: Death toll hits 50,912, thousands still trapped under rubble
The death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to a staggering 50,912, with the majority of victims being women and children, according to health officials in the besieged enclave.
The numbers reflect the catastrophic human toll of the ongoing Israeli aggression that began in October 2023.
In addition to the dead, at least 115,981 individuals have been injured, many with life-altering wounds, in what rights groups and humanitarian organizations have described as a relentless campaign against a civilian population.
Medical authorities in Gaza reported that since March 18, 2025, when Israeli forces resumed their offensive following a brief ceasefire, at least 1,542 more civilians have been killed, and 3,940 others injured in targeted attacks across the Strip.
During the past 24 hours alone, the bodies of 26 Palestinians, including six recovered from beneath the rubble, were transported to local hospitals. Another 106 people have also been treated for injuries sustained during ongoing airstrikes and artillery shelling.
Rescue workers warn that the real toll may be far higher. Hundreds are believed to be buried beneath the ruins of homes and buildings, with emergency crews unable to reach them due to continued aerial bombardment and the collapse of basic civil infrastructure.
Humanitarian organizations and local officials have called on the international community to intervene urgently, as Gaza’s hospitals are overwhelmed and medical supplies have all but run out.
The situation, they stress, is nothing short of a genocide unfolding in full view of the world, fueled by the international impunity granted to the Israeli occupation and the inaction of Arab and Western powers alike. (ILKHA)
