Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan reaffirmed Hamas's support for proposals that would secure an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, achieve a prisoner swap, and bring an end to the ongoing conflict.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday evening, Hamdan said that the key to ending the hostilities lies in adhering to previous agreements reached on July 2 and abiding by Security Council Resolution 3735.

Hamdan urged the international community to exert pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of obstructing mediation efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire. He also held Netanyahu accountable for any further harm to Israeli captives, citing recent intensified attacks and a tightening siege in northern Gaza.

"More than 100,000 Palestinians in northern Gaza are living without the essentials for survival," Hamdan said, adding that over 1,800 people, predominantly women and children, have been killed in the northern Gaza governorate since the escalation began. He described the situation as "genocide and ethnic cleansing," asserting that Palestinians in Gaza remain steadfast against displacement.

Hamdan also criticized the U.S. and certain Western countries, accusing them of complicity in the ongoing violence by providing political and military support to Israel. He further condemned the lack of action in response to the Security Council’s resolution and the International Court of Justice's calls to prevent acts of genocide and alleviate Gaza's humanitarian crisis.

The Hamas official expressed hope that those responsible for the violence, along with their international supporters, would ultimately be held accountable. He urged global actors to act swiftly to protect the Palestinian people and prevent further loss of life. (ILKHA)
