Iran cracks down on Mossad espionage network in Alborz

Iranian security forces have arrested two individuals accused of working for the Israeli Mossad intelligence agency in Alborz Province, western Iran, according to an official statement released on Sunday.
The operatives were reportedly in possession of explosives, bombs, and advanced electronic equipment, all of which were confiscated during the arrest operation.
The arrests come amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, following an aggressive Israeli military campaign launched on June 13 that targeted multiple Iranian provinces, including the capital, Tehran. The attacks, which included assassinations, led to the martyrdom of several senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and prominent nuclear scientists.
Iran has since launched a large-scale retaliatory strike, unleashing waves of ballistic missiles on Israeli military and strategic installations across the occupied territories on June 14. Israeli media described the level of destruction as "unprecedented," with key facilities severely damaged.
The capture of the Mossad cell in Alborz Province is the latest in a series of high-profile intelligence confrontations between the two countries. In April, Iran’s Judiciary announced the execution of Mohsen Langarneshin, who was convicted of spying for Mossad and aiding in the 2022 assassination of IRGC Colonel Hassan Sayyad Khodaei. Langarneshin had reportedly provided both operational and technical assistance to the Mossad in that targeted killing.
The Iranian authorities say the newly arrested operatives were likely part of a broader Israeli sabotage campaign targeting Iran’s national security, infrastructure, and scientific community.
Security officials reiterated Iran’s determination to confront foreign espionage networks and hold accountable those collaborating with hostile intelligence services.
As tensions between Tehran and Tel Aviv escalate into open conflict, observers warn that the unfolding confrontation could have far-reaching consequences across the Middle East and beyond. (ILKHA)
