Iran lifts missile range restrictions amid US, Israeli threats
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has announced that restrictions on the range of Iran's missiles have been lifted, warning that the country is prepared to demonstrate its expanded military capabilities in practice.
IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi made the remarks on Saturday during a press conference, stressing that Iran must demonstrate its capabilities on the battlefield rather than merely make statements.
Responding to a question about Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei's warning against any renewed military aggression against Iran, Mohebbi said Tehran possesses numerous means of neutralizing its adversaries.
He described the confrontation as an asymmetric war, arguing that Iran could exploit vulnerabilities in its enemies' military and non-military infrastructure to deliver unexpected strikes and undermine their capabilities.
Asked whether the Leader's recent directive for an immediate and effective response to threats, without geographical restrictions, meant that limitations on the range of Iranian missiles had been removed, the IRGC spokesman replied: "This restriction has been lifted for us."
Mohebbi nevertheless emphasized that Iran's military capabilities should be demonstrated through action rather than declarations.
"Our duty is to show our capabilities on the battlefield," he said, adding that it would be inappropriate to make claims before demonstrating them in practice.
The remarks follow a meeting between Ayatollah Khamenei, who also serves as commander-in-chief of Iran's Armed Forces, and senior military commanders, during which he called for an immediate and decisive response to any threat against the country, regardless of geographical boundaries.
During the meeting, the Leader also ordered a comprehensive revision of Iran's military target database to ensure that all physical and non-physical assets belonging to the US-Israeli adversary could be brought within the operational reach of Iran's Armed Forces.
The statements signal Tehran's determination to strengthen its deterrence posture and expand the scope of its military response amid escalating tensions with the United States and Israel. (ILKHA)
