Iran warns of firm response to any US intervention as Trump issues new threat
A senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has warned that any attempt to undermine Iran’s security under false or interventionist pretexts would be met with a decisive and regret-inducing response.
In a statement posted Friday on his X account, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, a senior advisor to Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, said the Iranian people are fully aware of the consequences of what he described as America’s so-called “rescue” operations. Referring to past US interventions, Shamkhani wrote that Iranians know the American model of intervention “from the experience of Iraq and Afghanistan to Gaza.”
“Iran’s national security is a red line, not a playground for reckless posts,” Shamkhani added, stressing that any hostile move targeting the country’s security would be stopped before it could reach Iranian soil.
His remarks came in response to a statement by US President Donald Trump, who on Friday issued a renewed threat against Iran. Trump claimed that the United States was “locked and loaded” and prepared to intervene if Iranian authorities allegedly used violence against protesters.
In a post published on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said that if Iran were to “shoot and violently kill peaceful protesters,” Washington would “come to their rescue.” The comments sparked swift reactions from Iranian officials, who rejected the accusations and condemned what they described as inflammatory rhetoric and interference in Iran’s internal affairs.
Iranian officials have repeatedly accused the United States of exploiting domestic issues as a pretext for pressure, sanctions, and destabilization efforts, while pointing to the devastating outcomes of past US interventions across the region. Tehran maintains that its security and sovereignty are non-negotiable and has warned that any external aggression would be met with a firm response.
The exchange reflects rising tensions between Tehran and Washington, as Iranian officials continue to denounce US threats and assert their readiness to defend the country against any form of foreign interference. (ILKHA)
