Israeli occupation forces continue deadly attacks across Gaza despite ceasefire
Israeli occupation forces intensified their deadly violations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip on Friday, carrying out demolition operations, launching attacks with drones and opening heavy fire across several areas, following attacks that killed five Palestinians, including a child and a woman, a day earlier.
Before dawn on Friday, Israeli military vehicles opened heavy fire east of Gaza City, while four explosions caused by demolition operations were heard in the city's eastern areas.
An Israeli quadcopter drone also opened fire on the Tuffah neighbourhood in northeastern Gaza City.
Further gunfire was reported in eastern parts of Tuffah, east and south of Khan Yunis, and east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, spreading fear among Palestinians living in the affected areas.
The latest violations followed a series of Israeli attacks on Thursday that martyred five Palestinians, including a 12-year-old child and a woman, and wounded several others across the besieged territory.
According to the Palestinian Information Center (PIC), Mohammed al-Qishawi was martyred in an Israeli drone strike targeting a group of Palestinians near Martyrs' Square in the Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City, on Thursday evening.
Medical sources at Al-Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat refugee camp confirmed that 12-year-old Adnan Tariq Adnan al-Qarnawi was shot dead by Israeli occupation forces east of the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.
Fadl Abdullah Salman Abu Mazyad was also martyred in an Israeli drone attack near the municipality of az-Zawayda in central Gaza on Thursday evening.
In southern Gaza, 54-year-old Noura Suleiman Mohammed Sheikh al-Eid was killed by Israeli gunfire in the Bir 19 area.
Another Palestinian, Abd Walid Matar, was martyred when an Israeli drone struck a tent sheltering displaced families west of az-Zawayda in central Gaza.
Israeli attacks also left several Palestinians wounded in different parts of the Gaza Strip.
In northern Gaza, an Israeli airstrike targeted the Falouja area west of the Jabalia refugee camp, injuring several Palestinians, including one who sustained serious wounds.
A Palestinian man and woman were also wounded by Israeli gunfire in the al-Satr and Hamad areas north of Khan Yunis.
Another Palestinian was critically injured in an Israeli drone attack south of Deir al-Balah.
Israeli warplanes also struck the al-Karama neighbourhood northwest of Gaza City, while occupation forces carried out a demolition operation east of Khan Yunis.
Earlier on Thursday, Israeli artillery shelled areas south of Khan Yunis amid heavy gunfire, further escalating attacks on the territory.
The latest attacks come despite the ceasefire agreement that took effect on October 11, 2025, raising renewed concerns over the continued targeting of Palestinians and the destruction of civilian areas.
Since the agreement came into effect, Israeli occupation forces have repeatedly carried out airstrikes, artillery shelling, demolition operations and shootings across the Gaza Strip, undermining efforts to maintain the truce and protect civilians.
The continued attacks have left Palestinians living near areas of Israeli military deployment exposed to persistent danger, while the destruction of homes and infrastructure has further worsened conditions for a population already devastated by more than two years of war, displacement and siege.
According to Gaza's Health Ministry, Israeli attacks have killed 1,602 Palestinians and wounded 5,799 others since the ceasefire took effect.
The ministry also reported that the bodies of 847 Palestinians had been recovered during the same period.
The latest figures bring the cumulative Palestinian death toll since October 7, 2023, to 74,618, while at least 175,925 others have been wounded.
The ministry has repeatedly warned that the actual death toll could be higher, as victims remain trapped beneath rubble or in areas that rescue teams cannot safely reach.
Despite the ceasefire agreement, Palestinians in Gaza continue to face deadly Israeli attacks, widespread destruction and a worsening humanitarian crisis. (ILKHA)
