Maduro reaffirms Venezuela’s unwavering support for Palestine
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro reaffirmed his country's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause on Friday, marking Palestinian Independence Day with strong statements pledging continued solidarity until “a free and independent Palestine rises.”
Speaking in Caracas, Maduro described the Palestinian struggle as “the most sacred of all causes,” underscoring Venezuela’s commitment to a “comprehensive and legitimate agreement” that guarantees the full rights of the Palestinian people.
“We will not abandon this sacred cause until the ultimate goal is achieved: Palestine will rise, free and independent,” Maduro declared. He emphasized that the Palestinian people are entitled to life, peace, and sovereignty, insisting that true peace cannot be achieved without accountability for what he labelled “crimes and genocide.”
“Despite current ceasefire arrangements, real peace will only come when justice is served,” he said. “Only then can we begin to rebuild from the rubble and devastation.”
Maduro urged the international community to resist cycles of “massacres followed by agreements,” calling for global public opinion to push toward a just resolution. He reiterated Venezuela’s readiness to support the reconstruction of Gaza and stand alongside Palestinians in their struggle.
“This will be a historic moment of dignity and pride,” he added, referring to the day Palestine achieves full independence.
Maduro’s statements reflect a broader tradition in Venezuelan foreign policy, framing the Palestinian cause as a central moral and geopolitical principle within the country’s Bolivarian, anti-imperialist worldview.
Throughout recent years, Maduro has repeatedly positioned Venezuela as “on the front lines with Palestine,” denouncing Israeli actions in Gaza, criticizing U.S. policy in the region, and calling international silence “a moral crime.”
His rhetoric has steadily intensified, shifting from declarations of solidarity to more pointed legal and political framing. Following the Sharm el-Sheikh ceasefire, Maduro described the Palestinian cause as “the most sacred cause of humanity,” cited heavy civilian casualties in Gaza, and rejected any agreement that leaves Palestinians without sovereignty or justice.
He has also called the UN’s response to Gaza “cowardly and complicit” and urged global street mobilization in defense of Palestinian rights.
In addition to political advocacy, Maduro has consistently pledged humanitarian support, stating that Venezuela will assist in Gaza’s reconstruction and continue sending aid. His latest remarks reaffirmed these promises, placing them within a narrative of long-term solidarity and regional resistance.
As Palestinians around the world marked their Independence Day, Maduro’s message positioned Venezuela among the most outspoken international backers of Palestinian statehood—framing the struggle as a defining moral issue of the era. (ILKHA)
