Over 340 Afghan nationals released from Pakistani detentions return home
The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation confirmed this week that 344 Afghan nationals have been released from various detention centers across Pakistan and successfully repatriated to Afghanistan.
According to an official press release issued by the ministry, the individuals had been incarcerated for varying durations. Pakistani law enforcement authorities had detained the citizens primarily due to a lack of valid legal residency permits and documentation required to remain in the country.
Following their release and transfer across the border, the ministry reported that the returnees were processed and provided with essential, short-term humanitarian assistance to address immediate needs. After receiving initial aid, the repatriation authorities facilitated transportation to return the individuals back to their respective home communities.
The mass release comes amid ongoing regional discussions and shifting regulatory frameworks regarding the legal status of millions of Afghan refugees residing within Pakistan. (ILKHA)
