Russia reports control of village in southeastern Ukraine
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday that its forces have taken control of the village of Yablokovo (Yablukove) in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region as part of ongoing military operations.
According to the Ministry, the Vostok Group of Forces led the operation. Russian authorities reported that Ukrainian forces suffered casualties and that several motor vehicles and fortifications were captured during the advance.
The Russian Defense Ministry also provided details on operations across multiple fronts, reporting significant losses among Ukrainian forces, including personnel, armored vehicles, artillery, and electronic warfare systems.
According to the Ministry, the Center (Tsentr) Group eliminated up to 495 Ukrainian soldiers in 24 hours, along with armored vehicles, artillery guns, and radar systems. The West (Zapad) Group neutralized 220 troops and military equipment, while the East (Vostok) Group affected over 265 soldiers and equipment. On the northern front, the Sever (North) Group reported 210 personnel killed, along with captured military vehicles and supplies.
In the south, the Yug (South) Group claimed 230 troops killed, including armored vehicles and field artillery guns, and the Dnepr Group reported 85 Ukrainian soldiers killed along with destroyed tanks and other military equipment. The Ministry stated that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to weaken Ukrainian defensive lines and secure strategic positions.
The capture of Yablokovo represents a shift in control on the Zaporizhzhia front, where fighting has intensified as both sides continue engagements in southeastern Ukraine and across the Donbass and southern regions. (ILKHA)
