Five people were martyred and at least 68 others were injured, including more than 15 children, after a reported U.S. strike hit a residential compound hosting a wedding ceremony in Sirik County, Hormozgan province, according to Iranian authorities.

Iranian state media reported that the strike targeted a residential building in the Kohestak area where a wedding celebration was underway. Officials said those martyred included a child, while dozens of civilians attending the ceremony were wounded.

Children among the wounded

Hormozgan Deputy Governor Ahmad Nafisi said more than 15 children were among the injured and confirmed that emergency teams transferred the wounded to nearby medical facilities, including hospitals in Minab. He said casualty figures could change as rescue efforts and damage assessments continued.

Iranian Red Crescent teams were deployed to the scene to assist the wounded and support emergency operations, while local authorities continued to assess the extent of the damage.

Iran condemns attack

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei condemned the strike, accusing the United States of targeting a civilian gathering and describing the attack as a "war crime."

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the strike hit a house hosting a wedding ceremony, turning what it described as a family celebration into a deadly tragedy.

Regional tensions remain high

The reported strike came amid escalating military tensions between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran following days of cross-border attacks.

Iranian authorities later announced retaliatory strikes targeting U.S. military positions in the region, while officials reiterated that attacks on civilian areas constituted a violation of international law.
