Al-Quds Global Week: Diyarbakır rally highlights Muslim unity for Gaza's liberation

In the heart of Diyarbakır, a city known for its deep historical and cultural ties to Islam, a significant rally was organized by a coalition of Islamic Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and madrasahs on the occasion of Al Quds Global Week.
This event wasn't just a gathering but a profound demonstration of solidarity with the Palestinian cause, particularly with the embattled people of Gaza, underlining the unity of the Muslim ummah in the face of Israeli oppression.
The rally was initiated with a poignant speech by Fawzi Barhum, a prominent leader of Hamas, who highlighted the critical role of Türkiye’s Muslim community in supporting Gaza during the Operation Aqsa Flood.
“O honored people, descendants of Saladin Ayyubi and Abdulhamid Khan, I bring you messages and thanks from Gaza, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the mujahideen,” he began, his voice charged with emotion. “You have stood with us since the first day of jihad in Gaza. The aid you provided, the protests you organized, and the prayers you offered have reached us and empowered us in our struggle.”
Barhum emphasized that the resistance in Gaza is not only a defense of Palestinian land but also a broader act of jihad to elevate the name of the Islamic world. He praised people in Türkiye, particularly the residents of Diyarbakır, for their enduring solidarity. “Your unity with us must continue,” he urged. “The Aqsa Flood is not over; it is an ongoing struggle, and we must remain steadfast together.”
Barhum also shared harrowing details of the devastation in Gaza. “We have 50,000 martyrs, 100,000 wounded, and 200,000 homes destroyed. Thousands of children have been orphaned, and entire families have been torn apart,” he lamented. Despite these staggering losses, he emphasized the resilience of the Palestinian people, crediting their faith and determination for the significant blows dealt to the Israeli occupation regime.
“This victory is as much yours as it is ours,” Berhum declared. “It is the victory of every Muslim who stood with us in this jihad. Together, we have shown that with faith, even the mightiest oppressors can be defeated.”
Following Barhum’s address, Nazım Şimşek, a representative of ITTIHADUL ULEMA, delivered a stirring press statement in front of the historic Grand Mosque in Diyarbakır’s Sur district. Şimşek began by reciting verses from the Quran, invoking the sacredness of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque. “Today, Jerusalem is under occupation, Al-Aqsa Mosque is under occupation, and Palestine is under occupation,” he declared.
Şimşek painted a grim picture of the atrocities committed by the Israeli regime, describing the systematic destruction of homes, mosques, and entire communities. “Babies in cradles, innocent women, and brave men who sacrifice everything for the honor of their faith have been brutally massacred,” he said. “Yet, despite the suffering, the mujahideen in Gaza have proven that if there is faith, there is possibility.”
He urged the Muslim Ummah to recognize the Palestinian struggle as a shared duty, calling on individuals, organizations, and nations to contribute in any way they can. “This war is not just the war of Palestinians, Yemenis, or Lebanese; it is the war of the entire Ummah,” he said. “Let us assist our brothers with our wealth, prayers, words, and actions. Let us stand united against oppression.”
Şimşek emphasized the symbolic and strategic importance of Al-Aqsa Mosque in the broader struggle against the Zionist regime. He called on Muslims to make Al-Aqsa the center of their resistance, both spiritually and politically. Citing the example of Saladin Ayyubi, the liberator of Jerusalem, Şimşek reminded the audience that the struggle for liberation is as much about knowledge and strategy as it is about physical resistance.
“Al-Aqsa is not just a mosque; it is a symbol of our unity and strength,” he said. “The words of Saladin, who attributed his victory to the pen of Qadi al-Fadil, remind us that faith and intellect are our greatest weapons against oppression.”
Şimşek concluded his remarks with a message of hope and determination. “By the permission of Allah, Jerusalem will surely be liberated,” he proclaimed. “This is the promise of Allah, the Qur’an, and our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).”
He called on Muslims to seize this historical opportunity to be part of the liberation of Jerusalem, urging them to mobilize for Gaza and the Palestinian people. “Let us contribute to this cause with our resources, our voices, and our prayers,” he said. “Let us stand with the oppressed and ensure that the sacrifices of the mujahideen are not in vain.”
The rally in Diyarbakır was a testament to the enduring spirit of the Islamic Ummah and its unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause. Al-Quds Global Week served not only as a reminder of the ongoing plight in Gaza but also as a powerful call to action for Muslims worldwide.
“May this week inspire us to strengthen our bonds of brotherhood and renew our resolve to stand with Palestine until the day Jerusalem is free, and Al-Aqsa is liberated,” Şimşek said.
As the rally concluded, the message was clear: the struggle for Palestine is not just a regional issue but a global responsibility. The unity and determination displayed in Diyarbakır are a beacon of hope for a future where justice and freedom prevail. (ILKHA)
