Fidan and Araghchi discuss latest developments in US-Iran talks
Fidan and Araghchi comprehensively assessed the latest developments in the talks, according to Turkish diplomatic sources.
The phone call came amid heightened tensions in the region following the U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran that began on Feb. 28. Iran responded with missile and drone strikes targeting Israel as well as U.S. interests across the region.
Against the backdrop of escalating regional tensions, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding in June concerning freedom of navigation through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
However, implementation of the agreement has remained stalled due to disagreements over security arrangements in and around the vital waterway.
The latest Fidan-Araghchi conversation comes as diplomatic efforts between the U.S. and Iran continue to face significant challenges, with developments surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and broader regional security remaining key issues in the negotiations. (ILKHA)
