The construction of a field hospital at the site of Gaza’s destroyed Al-Jalaa Hospital is progressing rapidly as the Orphans Foundation works to restore urgently needed medical services for Palestinians amid the devastation of the territory’s healthcare infrastructure.

The Orphans Foundation (Yetimler Vakfı), which provides humanitarian assistance to orphans, children who have lost their fathers and families in need across different parts of the world, began its aid operations in Gaza from the early days of the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation.

As Israel’s ongoing attacks have severely damaged Gaza’s healthcare system, numerous hospitals and medical facilities have been rendered unusable. Al-Jalaa Hospital, once an important healthcare center serving residents of the area, was also destroyed during the attacks.

Faced with the growing need for medical treatment, the Orphans Foundation launched a project to establish a field hospital on the site of the destroyed facility.

Following preliminary feasibility studies, construction work began and has continued at a rapid pace. Once completed, the field hospital is expected to provide treatment and healthcare services to Palestinians wounded in the attacks as well as patients requiring urgent medical assistance.

The new medical facility is being built at a time when much of Gaza’s health infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, leaving wounded and sick Palestinians facing severe shortages of medical services and treatment facilities.

The field hospital is therefore expected to provide a vital lifeline for people who have been deprived of adequate healthcare amid the humanitarian crisis.

The Orphans Foundation has appealed to philanthropists and humanitarian donors to support the completion of the field hospital and enable it to begin providing services as quickly as possible.

The foundation said financial and humanitarian contributions would help expand access to treatment for Palestinians in Gaza who urgently need medical care.

It urged philanthropists to contribute to the project, stressing that support for the field hospital would directly help provide healthcare to wounded and vulnerable Palestinians amid the continuing humanitarian crisis.

The project represents an effort to fill part of the enormous gap created by the destruction of Gaza’s medical infrastructure and to provide urgently needed assistance to a population facing unprecedented healthcare challenges. (ILKHA)
