Sheikh Hibatullah Akhundzada, leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, has called on Afghan scholars and university officials to play a greater role in strengthening Islamic values, guiding society and supporting the implementation of Sharia.

Akhundzada made the remarks during a meeting with Afghanistan’s Minister of Higher Education, ministry deputies, university officials, chancellors and scholars from religious institutions and universities across the country.

During the meeting, Akhundzada emphasized the important responsibilities of Islamic scholars in safeguarding the Islamic creed, addressing social affairs and educating the public about the principles of Sharia.

He described scholars as the “moral compass of society,” stressing that they have a major responsibility to preserve religious values and encourage righteousness among the population.

According to Akhundzada, closer coordination between religious guidance and government policies can contribute to the reform and improvement of society.

Akhundzada also called on university administrators to give particular attention to the comprehensive development of students, with an emphasis on strengthening their knowledge of religious sciences.

He stressed that students represent the future of Afghanistan and will eventually assume positions of responsibility in the country and serve the wider population.

The Islamic Emirate leader urged university officials to ensure that higher education contributes not only to academic development but also to the moral and religious formation of young people.

The meeting also included a review of the Ministry of Higher Education’s recent activities, achievements and ongoing programs.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the participating scholars reaffirmed their commitment to the Islamic Emirate and pledged to intensify their efforts toward what they described as the full implementation and strengthening of the Sharia legal system.

The meeting underscored the Islamic Emirate’s emphasis on the role of Islamic scholarship and religious education in shaping Afghanistan’s institutions and social order. (ILKHA)
