At least 25 dead, 27 injured in Kabul bus crash

At least 25 people were killed and 27 others injured when a passenger bus overturned early Wednesday in the Arghandi area of Afghanistan’s capital, Taliban officials confirmed.
The bus was traveling from southern Afghanistan, carrying passengers from Helmand and Kandahar provinces. Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Mateen Qani attributed the accident to reckless driving.
“This tragic incident underscores the dangers on our roads, particularly during early morning hours,” Qani said.
The crash comes less than a week after a similar incident in the western province of Herat, where approximately 80 people lost their lives in another bus accident, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety and vehicle regulation in Afghanistan.
Taliban authorities said emergency services responded quickly to the scene, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing. (ILKHA)
