European Orphan Hand hosts iftar dinner for 800 in Burundi

The European Orphan Hand Association brought the spirit of Ramadan to one of Africa’s poorest nations, Burundi, by organizing a heartfelt iftar dinner for 800 people in need.
The event, supported by charitable donors, united orphan families, the elderly, women, and children at a shared table, fostering a sense of community and solidarity in the holy month.
Held in various regions of Burundi, the iftar program prioritized the most vulnerable, with volunteer teams working tirelessly to serve hot meals, dates, and drinks. The initiative not only provided nourishment but also created a space for collective prayers and blessings, embodying the essence of Ramadan.
Nizamettin Aygan, a dedicated volunteer with the association, emphasized the deeper significance of the event. “A table not only fills the stomach, but also unites the hearts,” he said. “Ramadan is a time when sharing and solidarity peak. These tables bring hope, love, and unity. Seeing the joy in the eyes of our brothers and sisters in Burundi made every effort worthwhile. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our donors who made this possible.”
The dinner highlighted the power of collective goodwill, as hundreds gathered to break their fast together, their prayers echoing as one. Aygan, reflecting on the association’s mission, noted: “We traveled 5,000 kilometers from Europe to Africa to be here. Our duty is to bridge the gap between the poor and the rich, to connect their hearts, and to deliver faith to the oppressed and orphans.”
Beyond the iftar, the European Orphan Hand Association continues its Ramadan efforts in Burundi and beyond, distributing food parcels, zakat, fitrah aid, and festive clothing. The organization remains committed to supporting the oppressed and orphaned across the globe, with this event serving as a powerful testament to their mission.
The evening concluded with a shared sense of gratitude and hope, proving that even in challenging circumstances, solidarity can light the way. (ILKHA)
