Hamas Political Bureau Chairman Khalil al-Hayya held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday to discuss the latest developments surrounding ceasefire negotiations, the situation in the Gaza Strip, and broader regional issues.

According to Hamas, al-Hayya briefed the Iranian president on the latest developments in the negotiations file, as well as the political and military situation in the Gaza Strip, the occupied West Bank, and occupied Jerusalem.

During the call, al-Hayya reiterated that the Palestinian people remain committed to securing their national rights, stating that they will continue to pursue those rights through what he described as all legitimate means and available avenues.

The Hamas leader also expressed appreciation for Iran's longstanding political support for the Palestinian cause, thanking Tehran for what he described as its consistent backing of the Palestinian people. He further voiced hope that the conflict involving the Islamic Republic would come to an end and that security and stability would be restored throughout the region.

For his part, President Pezeshkian stressed the importance of unity and coordination among the peoples of the region, particularly in relation to the Palestinian issue. He reaffirmed Iran's continued support for the Palestinian people and what he described as their legitimate rights and just cause.

"We are with you and supportive of you in all the measures you take, despite the attacks we are facing," Pezeshkian said during the conversation, according to the Hamas statement.

The Iranian president also congratulated al-Hayya on his election as head of Hamas' Political Bureau, expressing appreciation for the continued direct communication and coordination between the two sides.

During the call, al-Hayya paid tribute to those who have been killed since the launch of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood across the various fronts of the conflict, describing their sacrifices as part of the struggle for the liberation of Palestine and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Pezeshkian also honored the memory of former Hamas Political Bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, whose martyrdom anniversary was recently commemorated.

The two leaders concluded their discussions by reaffirming their commitment to continued consultation and coordination, emphasizing that the Palestinian cause remains central amid the rapidly evolving regional developments. (ILKHA)
