Hamas official exposes U.S. complicity in Israeli plot to murder Palestinian negotiators

Senior Hamas official Ghazi Hamad has disclosed dramatic details of an alleged Israeli assassination attempt targeting the Hamas delegation in the Qatari capital last week, saying the strike nearly killed senior leaders while they were reviewing a U.S. proposal.
Speaking in an interview with Al Jazeera, Hamad, a member of Hamas’s Political Bureau, said the attack occurred less than an hour after the delegation had convened with their advisors. “We heard the sound of missiles, and it became clear we were the target of an assassination attempt,” Hamad stated.
According to his account, approximately 12 missiles struck the area in under a minute. The delegation, experienced with Israeli airstrikes, evacuated quickly and escaped unharmed. The attack reportedly killed one Qatari soldier and five Palestinians.
Hamad questioned Washington’s role, suggesting possible U.S. complicity in the strike. He accused the United States of enabling Israel’s ongoing campaign in Gaza, describing it as “an effort to erase life in the Strip through ethnic cleansing.” He called the attack part of a “bloody agenda” that has now become “clear to everyone.”
Hamad sharply criticized American envoy Steve Wietkoff’s mediation efforts, calling them “bitter” and accusing Washington of repeatedly changing its positions while siding with Israel. He directly blamed U.S. President Donald Trump for allowing the strike to take place, saying it occurred just hours after Hamas submitted its response to a U.S. proposal via Qatari intermediaries.
“The U.S. has never acted as a serious mediator,” Hamad declared, claiming Washington not only failed to prevent the attack but also supplied the weapons used to kill Palestinians.
Hamad warned that the incident in Doha signals a growing regional threat, suggesting that Arab and Islamic capitals are no longer safe from Israeli attacks. “Cairo, Riyadh, Baghdad, and Amman are not immune from this U.S.-backed Israeli madness,” he warned.
He described the incident as a critical test for Arab and Islamic nations, accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of seeking to redraw the map of the Middle East through aggression. “Netanyahu, who is wanted by the ICC, bombards Beirut and Damascus and now threatens every Arab capital,” Hamad said.
Hamad called on Palestinians, Arabs, and the broader international community to take a firm stand. “Israel has crossed all red lines,” he said. “Its strike in Doha proves it seeks to impose peace through force and thuggery, not diplomacy.”
Responding to President Trump’s threats over Israeli prisoners held in Gaza, Hamad said Hamas “does not take instructions from Trump or care about his threats.” He argued that it is Israel’s bombing campaign, not Hamas, that endangers the hostages’ lives.
“Trump has always been on the wrong side of history,” Hamad added, accusing him of encouraging Israel to continue its war instead of pursuing peace.
This was Hamad’s first public appearance since the April 9 bombing in Doha. The incident has further strained regional tensions and raised alarm about the possibility of Israeli operations targeting political leaders on foreign soil, potentially escalating the conflict beyond Gaza. (ILKHA)
