Humanitarian crisis deepens in Gaza: Seven new deaths from starvation

Hospitals in the Gaza Strip have reported seven new deaths, including two children, in the past 24 hours due to starvation and severe malnutrition, bringing the total number of famine-related deaths to 251, including 110 children, according to local health authorities.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate amid the ongoing blockade and severe shortages of food and medical supplies. Since March 2, 2025, Israeli authorities have closed all crossings with the Gaza Strip, preventing the entry of most humanitarian aid and causing famine to spread across the territory.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) reported that malnutrition among children under five has doubled between March and June, highlighting the devastating impact of the blockade on the youngest and most vulnerable.
The World Health Organization (WHO) warned that one in five children under five in Gaza is acutely malnourished, calling the situation “alarming” and urging immediate international intervention.
Since the beginning of the Israeli military campaign in October 2023, the death toll in Gaza has reached 61,897, the majority of whom were women and children. At least 155,660 others have been injured, many of them severely.
Authorities note that the figures are likely incomplete, as numerous victims remain trapped under rubble, inaccessible to ambulance and rescue crews.
The worsening crisis underscores the urgent need for the lifting of blockades and the safe passage of food, medical aid, and essential supplies to prevent further loss of life. (ILKHA)
