The Israeli occupation army has unleashed a fresh wave of destruction on Gaza City, leveling entire neighborhoods and forcing tens of thousands of Palestinians from their homes in less than a week, Palestinian authorities reported Friday.

According to local data, Israeli forces demolished 12 high-rise residential towers—each more than seven stories tall—containing approximately 500 apartments. The destruction alone has displaced more than 10,000 Palestinians, mostly families with children.

The assault did not stop there. More than 120 additional residential buildings, averaging three stories, were also reduced to rubble, displacing a further 7,200 people.

Over 500 other buildings sustained partial but severe damage, leaving nearly 30,000 people without safe shelter as homes have become uninhabitable.

In an attack on already vulnerable displaced families, Israeli forces also destroyed more than 600 tents in camps that had been housing civilians who had already fled earlier bombardments, leaving at least 6,000 people completely exposed.

The strikes also targeted community infrastructure, with 10 schools and 5 mosques completely obliterated. The loss of schools further cripples Gaza’s ability to provide even basic education to its children, while the destruction of mosques strikes at the heart of the community’s spiritual and social life.

In total, more than 50,000 Palestinians—including thousands of children, women, and the elderly—have been left homeless in under a week. Aid agencies warn that this will further exacerbate what they already describe as one of the worst humanitarian disasters in recent history.

Human rights groups have denounced the strikes as part of a systematic campaign of ethnic cleansing, accusing Israel of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure to force Palestinians out of Gaza City.

Local residents describe scenes of horror: entire families buried under rubble, children sleeping in the open, and aid trucks struggling to enter due to ongoing bombardment.

“This is not war—it is the erasure of a city,” said one Gaza resident, speaking to reporters amid the ruins.

The latest destruction has triggered renewed calls for international intervention. Palestinian leaders are urging the United Nations and the wider international community to take urgent steps to halt what they call a genocidal war against Gaza’s population.

Observers warn that if the assault continues at this pace, the majority of Gaza City could become uninhabitable within weeks, displacing hundreds of thousands more and pushing the enclave further toward complete collapse. (ILKHA)
