Tel Aviv admits new soldier death while continuing Gaza destruction

The Israeli army announced on Saturday that one of its soldiers was killed in the southern Gaza Strip, even as Tel Aviv presses ahead with its brutal and destructive war against the besieged Palestinian enclave.
In a military statement, the occupation army confirmed that a platoon commander from the Shimshon Battalion of the Kfir Brigade was killed in Khan Younis. Ironically, the soldier’s death was caused by an Israeli explosive device during operations, underscoring the chaos and confusion within the ranks of the occupying forces.
The army admitted that an investigation is underway into the circumstances of the blast, but provided no further details.
According to Israeli official figures, nearly 900 soldiers have been killed and more than 6,000 wounded since the beginning of the Gaza war in October 2023—losses that reflect the heavy resistance Tel Aviv continues to face from Palestinian fighters determined to defend their land and people.
Meanwhile, the cost of Israel’s aggression has been catastrophic for Palestinians. Since October, Israel’s relentless bombardment and ground assault have killed more than 62,600 Palestinians, the majority of them women and children. Entire neighborhoods have been flattened, Gaza’s already fragile infrastructure has been devastated, and the enclave now teeters on the edge of famine due to Israel’s deliberate starvation tactics.
Israel’s leadership is increasingly under international scrutiny. In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Separately, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is hearing a genocide case against Israel, with growing evidence of systematic targeting of civilians and the use of starvation as a weapon of war.
Despite global condemnation, Tel Aviv persists with its assault, banking on Western support to shield it from accountability. Yet, each passing day of bloodshed in Gaza not only exposes Israel’s military vulnerability but also deepens its isolation on the world stage.
For Palestinians, however, the struggle continues as a fight for survival and dignity in the face of occupation and genocide. (ILKHA)
