Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat attended the inaugural Damascus World Economic Forum, saying Türkiye presented its vision for stronger regional economic cooperation, shared development and economic integration at the forum's founding session.

In a statement shared on social media, Bolat said Türkiye was pleased to take part as one of the participating countries and delivered the opening address. "In our remarks, we presented Türkiye's vision for bilateral and regional cooperation, shared development and strong economic integration," he said.

Bolat noted that the Damascus World Economic Forum aims to promote new partnerships in trade, investment, logistics, energy and finance, strengthen Syria's economic capacity and help the country once again become "a major economic and commercial hub in the Levant region."

He expressed confidence that the forum, which is planned to be held annually, would bring together business communities, investors and policymakers. "We believe this annual forum will open the door to new partnerships, contribute to Syria's reconstruction and development process, and strengthen the economic stability of our region," Bolat said.

Reaffirming Türkiye's commitment to regional cooperation, Bolat added, "As Türkiye, in line with the vision of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for shared development and regional cooperation, we will continue to develop strong partnerships for the peace, stability and prosperity of Syria and the wider region."(ILKHA)
