Erdoğan, Macron discuss Ukraine peace talks and Gaza genocide in phone call

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and French President Emmanuel Macron held a phone conversation on Thursday at Macron’s request.
During the call, President Erdoğan reaffirmed Türkiye’s willingness to facilitate peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. He emphasized Ankara’s commitment to fostering stability and peace in the region, offering Türkiye as a neutral venue for dialogue to resolve the ongoing conflict.
On the situation in Gaza, Erdoğan expressed deep concern over Israel’s actions, describing them as reckless and aimed at seizing control of the territory through aggressive tactics and displacement of Palestinians. He reiterated Türkiye’s active efforts to secure a ceasefire and stressed the urgent need to curb Israel’s policies, which he warned are part of a broader plan to erase Palestinian presence from their land.
The leaders also reviewed Türkiye-France bilateral ties and discussed other regional matters, agreeing to maintain open channels of communication to address shared concerns.
Erdoğan’s remarks underscored Türkiye’s dual diplomatic approach: advocating for peace in Ukraine while taking a firm stance against Israel’s actions in Gaza, reflecting Ankara’s broader commitment to regional stability and justice. (ILKHA)
