The 4th International Islamic Parliamentarians Forum, a crucial gathering convened in Istanbul, opened with a resounding call for urgent discussions and decisive actions to tackle the multifaceted challenges of bloodshed, hunger, poverty, and destruction ravaging Gaza and Palestine.
Speaking at the event, HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu not only highlighted the urgency of the situation but also delved into the root causes and potential solutions.
Yapıcıoğlu began by painting a vivid and heartbreaking picture of the ongoing crises, stating: "We are going through difficult times. For seven weeks, fire has been raining down on Gaza. For 17 years, Gaza has been under siege. For 106 years, Palestine has been under occupation." He poignantly emphasized the profound consequences of a fragmented unity within the ummah, stating, "When our unity broke down, we lost our deterrence, our power dissipated. We were captured, trampled, our honors were trampled. Our children were butchered, our towns were destroyed, our properties were plundered, our blood was spilled."
In a call to action, Yapıcıoğlu directly addressed the participants, posing critical questions that demand collective introspection. "What is our disease, and how can the Ummah regain its strength by treating it? What are our political weaknesses, and how can we overcome our economic, spiritual, and intellectual shortcomings?"
Furthermore, he urged the gathering to delve into the multifaceted roles of parliamentarians, governments, the press, civil society, and the masses, stressing the need for comprehensive and immediate solutions. "Today, we should discuss and decide how we can eliminate these painful consequences. We should discuss and reach a conclusion on how to stop the bloodshed in Gaza and Palestine, how to eliminate hunger and poverty there, how to stop the destruction, and how to rebuild."
In a significant announcement, Yapıcıoğlu declared the proactive stance of HÜDA PAR, stating: "As HÜDA PAR members in the Parliament, we will take concrete steps with some law amendments next week, inshallah, and we will put forth our best efforts in this regard."
The International Islamic Parliamentarians Forum's first day concluded with a family photo session after impactful speeches, setting the stage for more profound discussions scheduled over the weekend.
In closing, Yapıcıoğlu extended heartfelt prayers for the martyrs of the resistance, including Deputy Speaker of the Palestinian Parliament Mr. Ahmet Bahr, expressing wishes for the speedy recovery of all the wounded.
The event continues to be a pivotal platform for mobilizing global efforts to address the pressing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Palestine. (ILKHA)
